This business and professional institute is the largest community college in Illinois.  It is located within three miles of Carol Stream.  The College of DuPage is the comprehensive community college for Illinois Community College District 502, located 35 miles west of downtown Chicago in the village of Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Since its founding in 1967, the college has graduated more than a half million students. College of Dupage has become the largest single-campus community college in the United States. Located throughout its district and accessible online, College of DuPage is all within your reach.

On October 18, 2004 the College of DuPage in conjunction with the Village of Carol Stream opened the doors to its first Community Education Center housed in the former 11,650 square foot Fire Station No. 1at 500 North Kuhn Road. This facility provides classes for college students with facilities that include two computer classrooms and one computer lab; two classrooms for credit and noncredit courses, one multipurpose science lab, and a community meeting space that is shared with a library and can accommodate some 200 people. Carol Stream residents can also take advantage of tuition-free computer literacy workshops and free use of the open computer lab and meeting room space at the facility.

The Naperville extension is located within eight miles of Carol Stream.  Chartered in 1895, Northern Illinois University is a comprehensive teaching and research institution with a student enrollment of nearly 25,000.

Located in one of the most dynamic regions of the country, with its main campus in the City of DeKalb, Northern also operates regional sites in Rockford, Hoffman Estates, Oregon, and Naperville.

The university is composed of seven degree-granting colleges that together offer 51 undergraduate degree programs and 70 graduate degree programs, including 10 Ph.D. programs, doctoral degrees in Education and the Juris Doctorate.
