On Monday, July 6th, Flood Brother Disposal Co., the Village’s residential franchise hauler successfully petitioned the Village Board to realign the Wednesday and Thursday residential refuse collection areas.
Because of the high volume of their Thursday collection accounts, Flood Brothers requested permission to amend the approved 5-day collection map that would extend the Wednesday collection area west to Fair Oaks Rd. with no change in the north (Army Trail Rd.), south (Lies Rd.) or east route borders (Kuhn Rd.). The 30-day notification period to inform the 820 effected households of the change in their service area began Tuesday, July 7th and will continue thru Wednesday, August 5th. During this notification period, Flood Brothers will inform the effected households of the change by letter, door hanger, parkway signage and in a series of newspaper display ads to be published in the Carol Stream Examiner in upcoming July editions.
Approval of this franchise amendment requires Flood Brothers to also monitor the progress of customer’s transition into their new collection area during collection weeks in August (5th, 12th, 19th & 26th). It is anticipated that the transition will be fully implemented with the holiday collection week that begins Tuesday, September 8th.
