  • See Village Code § 6-11-16(G)(5)
    A permit is not required to display signage for an open house. One open house sign, not exceeding six square feet in area or four feet in height, may be placed on the property where the open house is being held. In addition, open house directional signs not exceeding six square feet in area and four feet in height may be placed within the public right-of-way under the following conditions:

    1) Signs may be in place on Saturdays and Sundays between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.

    2) Signs must be free-standing, not attached to any utility pole or structure nor any traffic control sign.

    3) No attention-attracting devices such as pennants, streamers, balloons, inflatable shapes, banners, flashing lights or other illumination are permitted to be attached to an open house sign or placed in the public right-of-way.

    4) Each sign must have attached an adhesive label or other means to identify the name, business address and business telephone number of the person responsible for the placement and removal of the sign.

    5) No more than four signs for each open house may be placed in the public right-of-way.

    6) No sign greater than 30 inches in height is permitted to be placed within any portion of the 25-foot sight triangle at a street intersection.

    7) No more than one sign directing the public in any one direction is permitted to be placed by the same company at a single corner of any intersection. EXCEPTION: No sign may be placed at any of the four corners at Gary Avenue and Lies Road.
