In 2021 the Village contracted a professional survey firm, Polco/NRC, to solicit feedback on village services. Per the report, Carol Stream residents praised their overall quality of life in the village, with strong ratings for the inclusivity of the community. The survey was sent to randomly selected houses and made available online. Carol Stream responses were then analyzed against a national benchmark of nearly 400 other communities.
93% of respondents said they would recommend living in Carol Stream and that it is a good/excellent place to raise children. In fact, Carol Stream exceeded the national benchmark in many categories!
The Village was also recognized for its bike paths, traffic flow, clean streets, drinking water, and much more. We are especially proud that we ranked above the national benchmark for valuing and respecting residents from diverse backgrounds, taking care of vulnerable residents, and treating residents fairly.
Per the NRC/Polco report, at least 8 in 10 residents thought that the Police Department did an excellent or good job of acting in the best interest of the community, caring about the well-being of the people they deal with, and being a positive influence in the community; very few respondents felt that the Village Police Department did poorly at any of these. This response speaks to the integrity of our Police Department and the professionalism of our men and women who serve our community.
Mayor Saverino remarked, “Carol Stream is a blue collar, faith based community of people who just love to work together. Our Village Board and staff make sure our residents are taken care of, and those efforts are reflected in these excellent survey responses.”
