Zoning Verification Letter
A Zoning Verification Letter is a signed document which verifies the current zoning of a property. The letter acknowledges that a use, structure, building or lot either complies with or is legally nonconforming to the provisions of the Zoning Code, and can also provide zoning history on the property.
Below are the requirements to request a zoning verification letter:
- $80.00 fee per parcel prior to the research for the letter is required per the Village fee schedule. Payment can be made by mailing a check payable to the Village of Carol Stream. Preparation of the letter will not begin until payment has been received.
- Requester may provide a copy of the draft letter along with information sought to include all questions needed to be addressed in the letter.
- Upon completion, the Village will place the letter on Village letterhead, and return a signed PDF copy of the letter to the requester typically via email.
Zoning Verification Letter requests are usually processed within seven (7) business days.

Please note the zoning verification letter request is not intended to provide any outstanding building code violations or copies of certificates of occupancy. Such requests should be made separately via the Village’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request online or in person at the Carol Stream Municipal Center.
