Gary Avenue to Gerzevske Drive

INTRODUCTION

There is a stream along Kehoe Boulevard between Gary Avenue and Gerzevske Lane that is experiencing varying degrees of severity of stream bank erosion. The worst stretch (Section I) was recently stabilized and it serves as a "real-world" example of how future stream bank stabilization projects are expected to look.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

This stretch has been split into Sections I and II, and it is likely that Section II will be split further once more detailed design is complete.

SECTION I

This stretch stabilized the stream bank along the frontage of 180 Kehoe Boulevard and westward until it meandered into DuPage County's Gary-Kehoe Flood Control Reservoir.

The Phase II - Design was completed by Hey & Associates in June 2020.

The Phase III - Construction was substantially complete in November 2020 by V3 Construction Group. V3 will be planting plugs as part of the restoration portion of the contract and then they will be required to perform three years of monitoring and maintenance.

SECTION II

There is no timetable set for designing and constructing the remainder of this section.

Below are post-construction photos of Section I. The Village used this section as a pilot project for future stream bank stabilization projects along Klein Creek.
